December Daily

December is here and with it the excitement for the holiday season and the expectation of a wonderful new year. Journals are on my mind these days and I thought that this would be a good time to share my December Daily from 2022 with all of you. I hope you get lots and lots of ideas and enjoy this season with family and loved ones.

As you can see above the cover for my journal was actually made using a master board I had created. A master board is a piece of card – in my case it was a whole sheet measuring 22 inches by 30 inches – that you collage on. I used old magazine pages, some stickers, and lace to create mine. Then I cut my cover from that large piece and the rest of the pieces were turned into cards and belly bands and such.

If you want to learn how to create collage master boards for journaling do follow me on YouTube @MZ Creates – I will be doing lots of journaling tutorials there.

The pages inside were made from all sorts of junk and paper I had lying around. Some old book pages, some scrapbook paper, tea dyed paper and even pages from old storybooks.

As you can see in the pictures both above and below, this adds a fun layer to the background and then you can build on it with pictures, embellishments, words and so much more.

I created some pockets to store memorabilia from my month. I also used a lot of pictures; all of these were printed on my Canon Selphy. I have used it so so much since I got it.

Even fun labels from shopping made it into my layouts as well as some greeting cards. There really are no rules when you’re memory keeping or journaling, and I always like to try and add unusual things in fun unexpected ways in my books.

I’ve included some pages from my journal in this post so that you can see all the different things I did within the pages of this book. Give yourself permission to play and have fun, make lists, add lettering, a favorite quote, packaging from a favorite purchase, washi tape, tickets, pictures and more.

Anything that gives you joy is fair game for the pages of your beautiful journal.
