Artists in Residence – Elena Bianconi from Bologna, Italy

The Artists in Residence video and blog series is a look into the quarantined lives of artists and creatives all over the world! The interview questions offer an insight into how different people from all over the world are coping with the current Covid-19 pandemic. Each artist also shares a fun little project you can do at home!

This episode of the series features Elena Bianconi, an artist from Bologna, Italy.

I first got in touch with Elena when I was gathering projects for my Around the World with 80 Artists book. When I asked her how she's faring in the post corona world she was kind enough to share some insights into what she's doing and also a project for all of you to try!

Q. Tell us a little bit about you Elena.

My name is Elena, daughter since 1978, wife since 2006 and mother since 2009. I love paper ,colors and photos. One day I discovered that these three elements combined with a passion for creating turn into scrapbooking and from that moment I became a scrapper!

Q. Is there anything you’ve learnt about yourself during this current lockdown?

During this lockdown I learned that I love being a housewife! I like to wake up calmly, cook, clean my house, help my daughter with homework and have time for myself.

Elena is sharing a wonderful mini album tutorial with us today!

Q. In what way have you grown?

I became quieter. I stopped thinking only about the time. I learned to relax and learnt sometimes you can do absolutely nothing and still feel good.

Q. What has been your biggest frustration?

Keeping my daughter at home and seeing her depression to go out and play is my biggest frustration!

Q.How has art helped you to cope? What activities do you do?

I've been doing some house renovation and gardening during the day and scrapbooking at night. My creative pursuits have helped me a lot
